Inaugural TRR 391 Conference at Umspannwerk in Recklinghausen
Renowned international scientists from the U.S., Canada, the U.K., the Netherlands, and Germany presented and discussed their research. With a three-day scientific program featuring a total of 33 oral and 18 poster presentations, the event provided an excellent opportunity for academic exchange on statistical methods and their application to key issues in energy and transportation.
The TRR 391 Conference 2026 on Spatio-temporal Statistics for the Transition of Energy and Transport is both part of and the first conference in a series held every two years as part of the DFG-funded Collaborative Research Center TRR 391, "Spatio-temporal Statistics for the Transition of Energy and Transport".
The conference series is intended to serve as a platform for fostering collaborations, sparking new perspectives, and paving the way toward promising solutions to the pressing challenges facing the energy and transportation transitions.
This year, the conference was held at the Umspannwerk (voltage transformation substation) in Recklinghausen, which serves as a museum but remains in operation at the same time. During the breaks of the presentations, conference participants had the opportunity to explore the Zeitreise Strom (Time Travel Electricity) exhibition.
