Research Goals

TRR 391 has the following interlinked major goals:

  1. Create and advance an interdisciplinary framework of methods for scalable spatio-temporal data analysis bringing together the expertises from statistics, mathematics, computer science, econometrics, geoinformatics, logistics,  electrical engineering and energy economics.
  2. Develop novel statistical theory for spatio-temporal data analysis from a joint methodological perspective in a wide range of prototypical and highly relevant applications in the fields of transport of energy, people and goods which, on the one hand, supports decision-making in these areas by solving specific data analytic problems, and is, on the other hand, also broadly adaptable in other fields of applications.
  3. Establish a common language for spatio-temporal modeling across different disciplines which advances the state of the art in the considered applications and train a future generation of data scientists with broad expertise in spatio-temporal statistics.
